Parent Education Program for Divorcing Parents

What is Family Healthy Choices?

The Family Healthy Choices program is a five hour (two-session) educational program for parents about the effects on children of separation or divorce.

The program provides opportunities for participants to develop a conceptual understanding of the emotional stages experienced by children and adults during the divorce process, the impact of parental reponse and behaviors on their children, and how the developmental needs of children may effect their emotional and behavioral response to this transition in the life of their family.

Participants are provided specific strategies to increase their skills in conflict management, negotiation, and effective communication with both the other parent and their children.  The curriculum also includes opportunities for participants to explore common areas of conflict for divorcing parents and to learn effective strategies for addressing these concerns.
