Steven Nisenbaum, Ph.D., J.D.
President, Executive Director and Faculty, Family Healthy Choices

Dr. Nisenbaum has over 30 years of experience in clinical treatment and management for child, adolescent and adult mental health services, mediation, expert evaluator and witness, Guardian Ad Litem, and law, working in both the public and private sectors.  He is a psychologist and attorney with extensive additional training in mediation and alternative dispute resolution.   

Dr. Nisenbaum holds a B.A. from Northwestern University, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a MS and Ph.D. from Clark University. 

He has delivered the parenting education program curriculum for more than twenty years.  Dr. Nisenbaum co-facilitates the parenting education program at MGH..

Jill Levine, LICSW
Faculty, Family Healthy Choices


Jill Levine is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW). Jill began practicing twenty years ago in the Boston area.  Jill’s broad background has centered on directing and implementing social services within the framework of community health and homecare environments.


Jill has provided counseling, case coordination and crisis intervention to children, their families and the geriatric populations with special emphasis on servicing individuals with chronic and acute illnesses. She currently provides Guardian ad litem services through the Massachusetts Probate Courts and consults as a psychotherapist to individuals with various mental health issues. This experience allows Jill to operate out of a generalist approach whereby she can service multiple age groups with a wide spectrum of social service and mental health needs.

Jill serves as an instructor for the Tufts and Danvers programs.

Jan Nisenbaum, MSW
Faculty, Family Healthy Choices


Jan Nisenbaum, MSW, has over 30 years of experience in child welfare and mental health services, working in both the public and private sectors.  She has provided training on case management models, has been involved in developing public policy and quality improvement processes, and has been active in the design, development and evaluation of new program models and local systems of care that involve inter-agency collaboration and use of multiple funding mechanisms. 

Jan holds a B.S. in Child Development and Family Life from Purdue University and an M.S.W. from Boston College. 

Jan has delivered the parenting education program curriculum for more than 20 years and co-facilitates the parenting education program at MGH.

Alisa Feldman, DDS, Mediator and Consultant
Faculty, Family Healthy Choices
Alisa has over 30 years experience as a pediatric dentist with educational background in child development and psychology, as well as being a trained mediator.
  She specializes in helping families and children around stressful conflict, primarily as a co-mediator and as a co-instructor for Court-mandated parenting education.

Dr. Feldman holds a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and a D.D.S. from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.

She is a member of the Massachusetts Chapter of Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, as well as the Massachusetts Council of Family Mediators.  Dr. Feldman has earned a Certificate in Child and Family Forensics from the Center of Excellence in Children, Families and the Law at William James College.

Photo of Dr. Bruce Shackleton

Bruce Shackleton, Ed.D.
Faculty, Family Healthy Choices

Bruce Shackleton is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience helping clients in the Boston area, nationally, and internationally.  He is a managing principal of CO Solutions, LLP, a company that provides coaching and consulting services to  businesses and organizations.  Dr. Shackleton is on the staff of the Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital.  He was on the staff of Massachusetts General Hospital for over 25 years where he specialized in neuropsychology, forensic psychology and occupational health psychology.  He is affiliated with the Harvard International Negotiation Program, and has taught mediation and negotiation skills in a variety of business and organizational settings.  He is a member of the Massachusetts Psychological Association and has served on its Board of Directors.  He is a member of the American Psychological Association.  He has received special training in coaching, neuropsychology, mediation, family therapy and organizational development.  He works with individuals, groups, families, and organizations.

Madelaine Weiss, MSW, MBA
Faculty, Family Healthy Choices


Madelaine Weiss, MSW, MBA has over 30 years of experience in clinical services, organizational consultation and administration; working in hospital, research and clinical laboratory, community and educational settings.  She provides training on work/life balance and family matters, including stress management and quality of life issues specific to the well-being of divorced and transitioning individuals and families.   
 

Madelaine holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, an MSW from Simmons College and an MBA from Boston University.

Madelaine has delivered the Parents Apart Parenting Education curriculum for 2 years.
